MMA Fighter Bobby Lashley is an angry, angry man

Ok, I’ve never been a fan of pro wrestling (can’t stand the fake action and storylines) but MMA rather intrigues me.

I’ve come across much ado about Bobby Lashley, pro wrester turning MMA fighter.

Lashley had some “attitude” with his Maximum Fighting Championship 21 opponent Mike Cook who mocked Lashley’s wrestling background with a mask. The attitude is understandable considering people always needlessly hold someone’s past against them regardless of talent.

Lashley took all of 24 seconds to choke out Cook and win the fight bringing him to a 3-0 record.

After the fight, Lashley said,

"I’m here and everyone wants to and tries to make fun of the wrestling thing. I’m real. If they want to play around, I’ll knock them out or choke them out. And that’s what I did. I choked him out and made him pay. Now he can go put the mask back on and have fun with himself."

Impressive right?

Quite frankly, I’m not impressed.

Anyone who proclaims himself “real” after three fights is clearly not living in the same reality as the rest of us. To make his talk seem even more ridiculous, these three wins haven’t exactly come against the best of the best. The first fight was stopped because of blood from the opponent (who is so irrelevant he doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page), and then Lashley faced a guy who doesn’t even have a winning record throughout his career.

It’s like a team starting off 3-0 in college football and claiming you’re going to win a national championship when the first three teams you faced were Louisiana-Monroe, the Citadel, and Temple. Do I sound like I’m speaking from personal experience? I’m a Clemson fan…I KNOW these things.

I know he felt disrespected but I can’t stand big talkers without the big credentials to back it up.

June 27 Lashley takes on Bob Sapp, former NFL player (bench warmer for several teams) and All-American at Washington. Sapp has a winning record (smell the sarcasm)! They are essentially the same height but separated by almost 100 POUNDS in massive favor of Sapp. We’ll see how “real” he is. I’m still I’m not sure how much it will prove.

That being said, I think Cook will now think twice before he tries to make fun of someone like Lashley...in other words, someone who could cut off his air supply with just one of his massive arms.

The Braves are moving JoJo Reyes to the pen and bringing up righty Kris Medlen from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Last game: made it 3 innings and didn't strike out a single batter

Medlen:

Not Reyes

0.96 ERA...yes that's right your eyes are not deceiving you

Again...NOT Reyes

Medlen gets the start Tuesday against the Rockies...fingers crossed! Expect a Tuesday night blog for Medlen.

How Bout Them Braves! (with a Phillies side note)

Braves defeat Diamondbacks 4-3!

Fitting my first post would be about the Braves, but I figure why not cash in on this current luck before...well you know how it's been going over the past several years. Currently, the Braves are sporting a 7-2 record since their 2-game trip to Florida and one game above .500 (18-17).

Things simply seem to be clicking: overcoming some bad pitching here and there (and by bad pitching I really mean JoJo Reyes and a sometime-y pen), hitting well with runners in scoring position (Gracias Yunel! You come through once again with a game-ending sac fly bringing in little Jordan Schafer who managed to strike out only once tonight), getting good bench contribution (Infante), and looking healthy (McCann, Chipper for the moment).

I'm currently watching (via Yahoo! GameChannel) the Phillies and Washington. Being that the Braves had the most embarrassing record against the Nationals last year, I won't speak too negatively. However, the fact that Jimmy Rollins' batting average is below .200 isn't exactly breaking my heart.

Well, nevermind about the Phillies. But really Washington, when you walk Utley, Howard, and Worth to fill the bases bringing Ibanez of ALL people to the plate (seriously, the man is batting .352 for crying out loud. Senasational pickup!), what do you expect?

And down the Nationals go (surprise, surprise). Phillies win 10-6. Yay? Well, at least Florida took a fall tonight to the Dodgers 4-6. Talk about a team taking a plunge! 2-8 in the last 10 and lost 5 in a row...ouch.
